TALKSHOWS – ENGLISH SPOKEN
Why do we need 700 species of corn instead of 5, and all kinds of different grains instead of just our plain jane wheat?
In this talkshow, that we set up together with Hivos, you will find out why the diversity of crops is so super important for a region. With moderator Marieke Eyskoot we will be discussing these issues with people that we flew in from all over the world and we will also talk about how to make special crops work economically.
One of the main speakers in this talkshow is Hilal Elver. Hilal is the UN Special Rapporteur on Right to Food and will discuss the importance of biodiversity. She will especially reflect on the importance of biodiversity for strengthening local communities and talk to the two farmers that we have on our show.
This program is developed in cooperation with Hivos. For more information about Hivos and the international program ‘Sustainable Food’ take a look on this page.
